An Invitation
We invite you to accompany the Deaconess Community in prayer for one another, the church, and the world. You can also support the Community’s ministry through financial gifts, thereby strengthening its resources and extending its outreach. Your undesignated gift is always appreciated. Your gift for ministry may be used in one or more of the following ways:
- Scholarships for the seminary education of deaconess candidates
- Scholarships for the continuing education of deaconesses
- Sponsorship of deaconesses to attend the annual Deaconess Assembly
- Support of retired deaconesses with limited financial resources through the “Care of Sisters” fund
- Support of the Nkwenda Motherhouse of the Karagwa Diocese – our companion diaconal community in Tanzania
- Funding of Mission Grants used to support other agencies whose ministries reflect the Deaconess Community’s mission and values

The Deaconess Community, as an affiliated organization recognized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is exempt from federal taxation under section 501(c) (3) if the Internal Revenue Code.
Your tax-deductible gift can be made in the form of cash or appreciated securities. We also encourage you to consider leaving a legacy gift through an estate plan that includes a charitable bequest to faith-based organizations such as the Deaconess Community. Gifts from individuals in Canada are not tax-deductible at this time, but such gifts can be made through an ELCIC congregation or agency.
